What was Tuchel’s early coaching career?
Tuchel’s first steps in management came in the Bundesliga, first with Mainz and then as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Borussia Dortmund, although his coaching career began at the age of 27 working with the youth team at Stuttgart.
Tuchel came through the youth academy at Augsburg as a centre-back but his time as a player was spent mostly in the lower divisions in Germany and ended prematurely due to a serious knee injury.
After studying for a Business Administration degree following his early retirement, Tuchel reached out to Ralf Rangnick, his former coach at Ulm, asking for one last shot to revive his playing career. However, Rangnick encouraged him into coaching and he eventually took a job in the club’s academy.

Thomas Tuchel was born on 29 August 1973 in Krumbach, Germany, He was coached by his father, Rudolf in a local club before moving to FC Augsberg academy in 1988.

Tuchel did not have an impressive playing career, At FC Augsburg, he never made it to the first team. He left the club at age 19. He went on to play as a defensive midfielder for Stuttgarter Kickers in 1992.
Thomas Tuchel played eight games during the 1992–93 season. After the 1993–94 season, he was dropped from Kickers’ first team, and joined Regionalliga Süd side SSV Ulm, coached by Hermann Badstuber, the father of Holger Badstuber, whom Tuchel would later manage at youth level.
Playing as a central defender, Tuchel made 69 appearances for SSV Ulm until being forced to retire in 1999, at age 26, after suffering a knee cartilage injury.

В 2009 году случилось повышение – теперь Тухель примерил амплуа главного наставника «Майнца 05», который к тому времени вышел в Бундеслигу. Под руководством бывшего футболиста команда получила 9-е место.
В следующем сезоне удача была благосклонна, «карнавальники» в турнирной таблице разместились на 5-м месте. Но в последующие годы фортуна отвернулась, после чего руководитель решил оставить клуб.
В 2015 году уроженец Крумбаха возглавил дортмундскую «Боруссию», сместив в этой должности Юргена Клоппа. Под руководством Тухеля команда добилась хороших результатов – в течение его 2-летнего контракта в рамках Бундеслиги выигрывала бронзовые и серебряные медали. А на Кубке Германии в 2017 году заняла 1-е место.
В мае 2018 году Томас подписал контракт с «Пари Сен-Жерменом». Новый тренер «ПСЖ» привел команду в финал Лиги чемпионов, где в решающем матче уступил «Баварии».
Бурные события этого года.
В декабре прошлого года стало понятно, что у Томаса Тухеля нет долгосрочного будущего в клубе. В январе 2017 г., босс клуба Вацке заявил, что никакой результат, кроме попадания в тройку призёров по итогам сезона, не будет считаться успешным. Хотя до истечения контракта с Тухелем оставалось 18 месяцев, переговоры о продлении контракта были отложены в сторону.
А тем временем, клуб продолжило штормить и с началом 2017 года:
- в январе, товарищеский матч в Эрфурте был отменён из-за плохих погодных условий в местном аэропорту;
- Дортмунд купил Александра Исака, игрока о котором Тухель никогда не слышал;
- фанатские беспорядки на матче с РБЛ в начале февраля, привели к частичному закрытию трибун стадиона на матч с Вольфсбургом.
В период между фанатскими беспорядками и частичным закрытием стадиона, Дортмунд проиграл аутсайдеру Дармштадту; вновь Тухель обвинял в неудаче игроков.
В конце февраля стало ясно, что из-за метаболического расстройства, Марио Гётце останется на больничном до конца сезона, а кубковый матч с Шпортфройнде Лотте был перенесён из-за плохой погоды. А тем временем, Обамеянг начал канючить с переходом.
