About Welshly Arms

It could be an actual place or just a feeling, but we’re all searching for home in one way or another. In times like these, it’s a state of mind that remains harder and harder to come by as the world gets crazier and crazier. Welshly Arms most definitely attest, and that search drives the group’s 2018 full-length debut, No Place Is Home . Lacing daring alternative rock with gospel-size scope and bluesy heart, the Cleveland, OH six-piece—Sam Getz , Brett Lindemann , Jimmy Weaver , Mikey Gould , Bri Bryant , and Jon Bryant —cook up thirteen anthems that welcome listeners to chant along everywhere…“We’ve been traveling so much over the past few years,” explains Sam. “It’s awesome to see so many new places and play to people everywhere, but you do feel a bit rootless. One month, the tour bus is our home. The next, we’re overseas living out of hotels. When we actually get back to our hometown, it doesn’t feel like home, because we’ve gotten so used to being on the road. At the same time, it’s easy to feel lost and like you don’t belong anywhere in the world. That’s the overall theme of the songs.”Since 2013, Welshly Arms have canvased nearly every corner of the globe spurned along by a bevy of seismic and show-stopping songs. Their 2017 EP, Legendary, boasted the ubiquitous title track, “Legendary.” To date, it has earned gold certifications in Germany and Switzerland, cracked over 47 million Spotify streams in under two years, received 1.5 million Shazams, and soared to Top 15 at Alternative Radio. Meanwhile, the group’s tracks have piped through campaigns for Miller, Hulu, NFL, Indian Motorcycles, and Beck’s Beer, while “Hold On I’m Coming” roared over the trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award-winning The Hateful Eight. Additionally, they lit up the stage at Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! and earned praise from Indie Shuffle, Baeble, Cleveland.com, and more.In the midst of this whirlwind, the musicians rented a 19th century house in Cleveland to record what would become No Place Is Home. They transformed the remote farm house into a de facto Welshly Arms headquarters and creative haven complete with separate rooms dedicated to keyboards, guitars, writing, listening to vinyl, and, of course, recording. This served as the site of the album’s genesis.“It just felt like a really creative and safe area to make new music,” says Jimmy. “We primarily record here, because it’s got everything we need. As years went by, we’ve accumulated so many different instruments and recording studio toys that had to often live in closets or storage units. Now, we’ve got everything in one place. You can write songs in any room. There’s no pressure. There are no time limits. It really brought a special energy to what we were doing.”That energy courses through the first single “Sanctuary.” Propelled by powerful handclaps, sweeping organs, and robust guitars, the track stretches to cathedral-size heights highlighted by an angelic choir of voices as Sam assures, “You are, you are safe with me.”“Lyrically, it’s all about getting through these hard times, connecting with someone, and making your safe place together,” the vocalist goes on. “We’re taking that classic sound and making it our own.” “I just remember envisioning a whole group singing an inspiring lyric together,” adds Jimmy. “It could be in a bar or in an arena. That’s the vibe.”Elsewhere, the album commences with rustling guitars and spaghetti western-esque whistling before snapping into a soulful strut. “Down to the River” adds a new face to revival-style energy with its swaggering punch. Then, there’s “Indestructible,” which thrives on a funkified shuffle.“That one’s fun,” smiles Sam. “We wanted to give people something to move to. We kicked it off with a feeling. It’s about a woman who’s too strong for you. You’re having a hard time getting something going, because she’s so indestructible.”In the end, Welshly Arms make audiences feel right at home by elevating their sound to a bigger and bolder stratosphere.“No Place Is Home really showcases our love for music,” concludes Jimmy. “We approach things in different ways and push ourselves. We’ve moved up a grade as a band.”“There are so many different turns on this record, as far as the sounds and themes go,” Sam leaves off. “‘Legendary’ was the first step towards something bigger. This shows our progression as a whole.”

The openers were every bit as impressive as the headliner. This is also our favorite venue in the city. This was an amazing show with great talent. Makes it hard to ever want to spend $80+ for national acts when you can get this level of performance for $20.

The history of creation and composition

The group appeared in 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio. Six young creative musicians gathered in the team: Guitarist and Soloist Sam Getz, keyboard player Brett Lindemann, Basist Jimmy Weaver, Drummer Marki Gould and Vocalist — Brian Bryant and John Bryant. Immediately after the foundation of the project, the participants began to work on new compositions.

In the same year, the Group submitted to the public of the video sector Two Seconds Too Late, which was popular, and the team was spoken. Soon, the musicians were pleased with the fans of the debut EP Welcome, and also gave a number of live performances. Energy team, sound, resembling an old good rock of the American West, came to the public in the shower.

About

On Welshly Arms’ breakout single “Legendary,” lead singer and guitarist Sam Getz belts, “ gonna get their attention!”

At the time of recording “Legendary”, Getz and his Cleveland-based bandmates, were playing local midwest gigs with dreams of garnering enough attention to someday play on the biggest stages around the world.

Fast forward to 2022 and it’s safe to say that Welshly Arms’ punchy blend of soul, blues, gospel, and rock-and-roll did indeed capture the music world’s attention as “Legendary” is now certified platinum in Germany and Switzerland and has over 180 Million streams. The song’s warm reception launched the six proud midwesterners onto the biggest stages and festivals around the world, including Lollapalooza, The Reading & Leeds Festival, Bottlerock, Rock am Ring, Hangout Music Fest, Shaky Knees, and more.

The dynamic and eclectic sounding six-piece of Getz , Brett Lindemann , Jimmy Weaver , Mikey Gould , Bri Bryant , and Jon Bryant are all confident-yet-humble midwesterners that share a true passion for music and performing.

Off the stage, Welshly Arms’ music has appeared in Underground 6 (Netflix), Empire (Fox), FIFA (EA Sports), Quentin Tarentino’s award-winning film “The Hateful Eight” (Trailer), and has been used by major brands such as Miller Lite, Jeep, ESPN, the MLB, NFL, and NASCAR.

The band followed up “Legendary” with two more top ten songs in Germany, including a top five tune in “Sanctuary”—off their most recent album No Place Is Home. Welshly Arms has fans all around the world, but share a special connection with their rabid fanbase in Germany, and central Europe at-large. Nowadays, the band is regularly playing sold-out shows and major rock festivals in Europe.

The band’s work ethic is unrelenting. After touring almost non-stop for two straight years, the group is now recording more new music in their newly-minted Blakwall Studio in Cleveland, OH.

Even with their rising status and profile, Welshly Arms remain humble and true to their creative craft. Welshly Arm enters the 20’s with an ever-growing fanbase, more experience, and a refreshed creative muse. Welshly Arms’ fans got a first listen into the next evolution of Welshly Arms’ as the band released “Trouble” in early 2020 and is preparing to release more singles throughout the calendar year.

With laser-precision studio production techniques from the uber-talented Jimmy Weaver–a Welshly Arms song is always distinguishable with familiar sounds that harken to the swagger of classic rock-and-roll yet are also blended tastefully with contemporary sounds and techniques.

“We take pride in producing all of the recordings ourselves. It’s important to the sound. We always try to keep a gritty soul edge with everything we do,” says Getz. “The vocals stick out, and the music is always deep and raw.”

With over 200 live performances in the past two years, music fans from around the world have celebrated the energetic style of sing-along and foot-stompin’ vibes that are now a signature draw at Welshly Arms’ live performances.

“I hope people notice what we put into this,” Getz says. “With every gig, we want to put on a show and have fun with the audience. On the records, I hope you can hear our enjoyment in making music. I want everybody to share that when they hear it.”

Music

The audience appreciated the team’s record that reinforced the confidence of the performers in the fact that the work goes in the right direction. Next year, the project participants collected material to release the first studio album called Welshly Arms. The original compositions were recorded on the lap of nature.

For inspiration, the group went to Lake Erie, removed the house in the terrain distant from civilization and created an amazing composition on the beauty and artistic expressiveness. Ten songs written in the genre of blues rock, mixed with grunge 90s, awakened bright emotions in the listeners.

Another year passed, and the team offered two new creations to fans — singles Bed Blood and Legendary. The last song has become the most successful in the history of the group. The composition was chosen as the main theme of the National TV and Radio Company for Clevlend Islands. In addition, the project fans could hear Legendary in the TV series «Eighth Feeling.»

The song is so popular that the musicians decide to include it in the new mini-album of 2017. And the work enters the second studio record called No Place Is Home. The disc is published in 2018. An interesting story of creating an album. Remembering the experience of recording debut Welshly ARMS, the team members decide to leave the city noise again.

Guys rented an old house, built in the XIX century, will settle there, inspiring the atmosphere of the structure. The musicians later called the headquarters building, «creative paradise,» where each room became a source of inspiration, where it was possible to listen to old vinyl records in silence.

The project participants managed to transfer the amazing spirit of this place in the new work. Music has become a cozy, creating a feeling of calm and security. The compositions turned out to be different in style — among them were those near Indi-Rock, as well as those that resembled soundtracks for spaghetti-westerns.

Among the interesting facts about the work of the Group, it is possible to note that the music of Welshly ARMS was used in the official trailers for the film «Road to Hollywood», where Jack Black starred, and to the «disgusting eight» tape, whose director Quentin Tarantino. Between the recordings of the albums, performers ride touring tourists in continents, collecting large fan halls.
