Bill Goldberg Career:

Goldberg’s involvement with WCW from 1997 to 2001 is what made him most famous. As part of his undefeated streak, in early 1998, Goldberg defeated Brad Armstrong in SuperBrawl VIII and pinned Perry Saturn at Spring Stampede.

During this period, he attained the titles of WCW World Heavyweight Champion and WCW United States Heavyweight Champion. When he returned to WWE in 2016 after a 12-year absence, he competed in the main events of Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar and Fastlane against Kevin Owens. In the match, he won the WWE Universal Championship, which was his third world championship.

This made him the sole holder of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, WWE’s World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Universal Championship.

In the fight, Bill Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns, Goldberg was defeated by Roman Reigns in a first-ever battle at WWE Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia in 2022. By choking Goldberg with a guillotine, the Tribal Chief maintained his legendary reign then.

The veteran had plenty of opportunities to attack throughout the brief match, but Reigns avoided two deadly Spears.

Goldberg resembles Stone Cold Steve Austin because they both have bald heads and prefer black trunks and boots. Despite both being in their 50s, it is reasonable to question if they would consider fighting now, even though the circumstances never quite aligned for them to meet each other in the ring.

In response to a question regarding what prevented the match, Goldberg stated that he believed Austin’s history of neck problems and his wrestling style were to blame. But if WWE could ever persuade both Goldberg and Austin to compete again, it could be worth a shot. Given the attention it would likely garner among fans.

NFL and Wrestling Career

After playing for the WLAF, he went on to play for the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 to 1994. He also played for the L.A. Rams, but his career ended when he tore his lower abdomen from his pelvis.

He started powerlifting and training in mixed martial arts while getting physical therapy for his injury. Furthermore, he met professional wrestlers Lex Luger and Sting, and they told him he should try to become a wrestler too.

Goldberg didn’t like the idea of being a professional wrestler, but at the time, he didn’t have many other job options. He started training at the World Championship Wrestling Power Plant in Atlanta.

In June 1997, under the name Bill Gold, he made his first wrestling match. He took part in a number of matches that weren’t shown on TV, and he did okay. In the fall of that year, he had his first match on TV.

He beat Hugh Morrus in an episode of “Nitro.” After his first match, he beat several other WCW wrestlers. Most of the time, he won in just one or two minutes.

Because he won so often, the WCW started to show on TV how many times he had won in a row in 1998. In March 1998, he beat Perry Saturn at the Spring Stampede. This was his 74th straight win.

But it was well known that WCW made up his number of wins and losses, so much so that it became something of a joke. From 1997 to 1998, he had 174 wins and no losses, according to WCW.

Fans finally figured out what was going on, so they stopped bringing signs to celebrate his wins. Still, Goldberg had a lot of early success. In the spring of 1998, he beat Raven to become the United States Heavyweight Champion.

In the summer of that year, he gave up that title and beat both Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title.

At Halloween Havoc in October 1999, he beat Sid Vicious and won his second US Heavyweight Championship. The next day, the WCW commissioner said that the fight had not been approved by the company and took Goldberg’s title away.

WCW’s parent company, AOL Time Warner, gave him an expensive contract, and he was one of the highest-paid wrestlers there, making $2.5 million a year. Goldberg left WCW in April 2002 after getting hurt in his arm.

He went to Japan to wrestle for All Japan Pro Wrestling. Because of how well he did in Japan, World Wrestling Entertainment gave him a contract. In March 2003, he made his debut on “Raw.”

In the fall of that year, he beat Triple H to win the World Heavyweight Championship. His wrestling career would keep going well, and in 2017, he won the WWE Universal Championship.

In 2018, he was put into the WWE Hall of Fame. He is the only person to have won the WCW Heavyweight Championship, the WWE Universal Championship, and the WWE Heavyweight Championship.

How many wins did Goldberg actually have?

Before stepping foot in WWE, Goldberg was WCW Champion. “Da Man” had an incredible run as the WCW Champion by defeating the legendary Hulk Hogan for the championship in front of 60,000 people. He has an unprecedented record of 173 victories to 0 defeats as the WCW titleholder. He destroyed everyone in his WCW career who stood in his way. Only a few men in the WCW Nitro, such as Scott Steiner, Booker T, Bret Hart, and Kevin Nash, are the one who could crown over the giant man Goldberg.

In his WWE career, to this day, The Hall of Famer has won overall 37 matches. These wins include six games of tag-team partnership with other wrestlers such as Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Randy Orton, and Rob Van Dam.
